Attachment-Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

Headshot

No matter what brings you to therapy, I am committed to creating a safe and reflective space to talk and work through any issues you may be experiencing. I am focused on developing an open and trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients, in order to support growth and change, as appropriate.

I am an attachment-based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in my latter years of training at The Bowlby Centre, a UKCP accredited institution. As a UKCP trainee therapist, I have experience in helping people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. I have worked with clients who have come to therapy with a variety of issues including trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, discrimination, difficult life decisions and feeling in a state of crisis.

I am on the UKCP register for trainee therapists and I am committed to following the ethical and professional codes of practice of both the UKCP and my training organisation.

About Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can help people to work through a variety of issues, life events and emotional challenges in a caring and confidential space. Psychotherapy aims to help increase a person’s self-awareness and confidence, and to achieve a better understanding of the issues they face and the causes of their emotional pain.

People may come to psychotherapy because they find themselves repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour from their past or perhaps finding themselves stuck in some way and unable to move forwards.

Psychotherapy can provide an opportunity to make sense of your past and how it influences your life now and the person you have become. The therapeutic process can help you to reflect on where you are now and support you in making those changes which you feel are right.

About me and my approach

Every client is unique and there is no one size fits all approach to psychotherapy. I work together with my clients to ensure that the therapy develops at a pace and style that suits their individual needs.

My approach to psychotherapy is underpinned by an attachment-based psychoanalytic framework. Attachment theory focuses on the long-lasting impact of our earliest relationships with our childhood caregivers, such as our parents. It emphasises the importance of those early relationships in enabling us to grow and develop a healthy sense of self, and the issues that arise when these relationships are insufficiently secure and supportive. Attachment therapy is therefore based on a co-created relationship between therapist and client. As a therapist, I am committed to supporting you on this journey, with a view to helping you feel stronger, happier and more in control.

I provide a confidential and caring environment in which people can explore their issues and gain a better understanding of themselves, their emotions and their patterns of behaviour. In doing so, I aim to help people to reflect on where they are in life and resolve their issues and hopefully live a happier life.

Prior to training as an attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I have an extensive career background in PR and communications, focused on the healthcare and charity sectors. This armed me with many transferable skills, attributes and qualifications which inform my work as a psychotherapist.
